Rethink Science is a human systems consulting practice. It works with founders and founder-led organizations to understand and address the psychological and structural dynamics that determine how an organization actually functions, as distinct from how it is supposed to function on paper.
The practice is organized around a theoretical framework, Organizational Psychogenetics, that holds that organizations have a psychology, that psychology originates in founding conditions, and that it shapes the developmental experiences of every person who works inside. The practice is the applied expression of that framework.
What 'human systems consulting' means
Systems without psychology is incomplete. Most strategic failures are not failures of analysis, they are failures of the human conditions required for the analysis to be acted on. The right decision gets made and not implemented.
The right structure is designed and immediately circumvented. The right brand is built and doesn’t land. Human systems consulting addresses both levels simultaneously, the strategic and the psychological, because changing one without the other tends not to hold.
The diagnostic-first model
Every engagement at Rethink Science begins with a diagnostic. This is not a procedural requirement, it is a philosophical position. The work that follows a diagnostic is fundamentally different from the work that follows a conversation about what the client thinks the problem is.

The instruments that operationalize the framework, the Human Systems Scorecard and the Brand Vital Signs diagnostic, were developed here. The practice and the field develop in parallel. Clinical findings inform the theoretical framework. The theoretical framework shapes the instruments and the working approach.
